News of the World apologises for phone hacking scandal
News International is only apologising to those people suing the media giant for hacking their phones, according to Brian Paddick.
The former deputy assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police was told by police that his phone may have been hacked, but said that taking court action to find out more and receive compensation was "a gamble".
The News of the World's owner has said sorry over the phone hacking scandal and is to set up a compensation fund and, in some cases, it will apologise and admit liability.
