Major oil spill exercise conducted off Shetland Islands
A major exercise to see how the UK would cope with an oil spill like that in the Gulf of Mexico was conducted off the coast of Scotland.
The test was performed after MPs voiced concerns that safety equipment might not cope with the harsh conditions in the area.
The exercise took place on the Shetland Islands, which already has 400 operational wells.
Now much deeper drilling has begun at one site with plans for much more.
David Shukman reports from Shetland.
