Queen opens new session of Welsh Assembly

The Queen has officially opened the new session of the Welsh assembly in Cardiff and spoken of its 'well-deserved reputation for diligence and competence.'

Referring to the assembly's new direct law-making powers in areas like health and education, the Queen said its actions would be closely scrutinised within Wales as well as elsewhere.
