BBC chairman vows to protect World Service

The Chairman of the BBC Trust, Lord Patten, has vowed to do his best to protect the BBC World Service from 20% budget cuts facing the corporation.

In his first major interview since taking up the role earlier this year, Lord Patten said the BBC should look elsewhere to make cuts including to domestic services.
