Rory McIlroy's Northern Ireland club celebrates victory

Rory McIlroy is the US Open champion.

The 22-year-old from Holywood in Northern Ireland blew away the opposition at the Congressional Club in Maryland.

The 22-year-old completed a remarkable four days to clinch his first major title with an eight-shot victory in the US Open at Congressional.

He is the youngest US Open champion since Bobby Jones in 1923 and the youngest major winner since Tiger Woods clinched the Masters in 1997.

About 200 people stayed up into the early hours at Holywood golf club to catch his victory.
