Benefit assessment appeals costing estimated £50m a year
Appeals against benefit assessments are costing an estimated £50m a year, according to an MPs' report.
The assessments determine whether applicants are entitled to Employment and Support Allowance - the successor to Incapacity Benefit - or are considered "fit for work".
The Work and Pensions Committee report criticises Atos Healthcare, which carry out the tests.
