Rural railway passenger numbers on the increase

There has been a surge in the number of people using small rural railway lines, with passenger numbers on some routes almost doubling in the past few years.

The Association of Train Operating Companies says it is mostly down to two factors: increasingly reliable services and more people taking their holidays in the UK.
