High winds batter the UK

The tail end of Hurricane Katia has made its way across the Atlantic and is now making its presence felt in the UK.

Severe gales are causing disruption and damage across many parts of the UK. A number of ferry services have been cancelled and transport routes closed. Forecasters expect Northern Ireland and Scotland to be most affected.

The BBC's Colette Hume is on Anglesey, Lorna Gordon is in North Ayrshire and Mark Simpson is in County Antrim.
