Dale Farm: 'Hope to clear plots by Thursday'

A High Court judge has granted residents on the UK's largest illegal travellers' site a temporary reprieve in their battle to stay.

The judge ruled that the travellers at Dale Farm were entitled to an extension of an injunction stopping their evictions.

He adjourned the case until Thursday saying the courts needed first to rule on the legality of their removal.

Reacting to the ruling, the leader of the Basildon council, Tony Ball, said he hoped the majority of the plots would be cleared by the close of play on Thursday.
