Servicemens' stories of courage in the line of fire

Servicemen and women from across the armed forces have been honoured for their bravery and courage.

Most of the 140 awards, including 16 Military Crosses, were earned by those serving in Afghanistan last winter.

Lt Paul McFarland was awarded the Military Cross after saving one of his soldiers from a Taliban grenade.

Capt Michael Lowry received a Mention in Dispatches for saving the life of a wounded soldier.
