Adoption league tables are 'the wrong approach'

The Prime Minister David Cameron is promising to take tough action against local authorities in England which fail to deal swiftly with adoption cases.

New league tables show wide variations in how quickly councils find parents to adopt children in their care.

Hilton Dawson of the British Association of Social Workers said compiling league tables is the 'wrong approach' to adoption, and John Simmonds from the British Association for Adoption and Fostering explained why the process could take time.
