Police confirm seven dead in 'horrific' M5 crash

Police have confirmed seven people have died and 51 have been injured following a multi-vehicle pile-up near junction 25 of the M5 motorway in Somerset on Friday night.

Assistant Chief Constable Anthony Bangham from Avon and Somerset Police described the scene as "horrific" with many vehicles "burned to the ground".

Speaking to reporters, he said there are fears that the number of deaths may rise as forensic tests continue throughout the day.
