Calls to limit betting shops

Councils in England are calling for more powers to limit the number of betting shops on the high street.

The Local Government Association wants to prevent large numbers of bookies opening close together, but says local authorities are often unable to stop them.

The Association of British bookmakers says any new regulations would be "unwarranted".
