Stephen Lawrence 'swallowed up' by gang

Stephen Lawrence was "swallowed up" by a gang of five white youths who stabbed the black teenager to death 18 years ago, an Old Bailey jury has heard.

Prosecutor Mark Ellison QC said they shouted a racist remark at the A-level student then forced him to the ground at a bus stop in Eltham, south London.

He said the group stabbed 18-year-old Stephen twice after his friend Duwayne Brooks managed to flee the scene.

Tom Symonds reports.
