Dominick Chilcott: Iran 'may feel remorse' over UK tensions
The ruling regime in Iran is likely to have supported an attack on the UK's embassy in Tehran, the British ambassador to the country has said.
Dominick Chilcott told the BBC that Iran is a country in which such action is only taken "with the acquiescence and the support of the state".
Tuesday's attack by hundreds of protesters followed Britain's decision to impose further sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.
Iran said it regretted the incident, which it described as "unacceptable behaviour by a small number of protesters".
