Eve Pollard: Why 'news is a commodity'
With the Leveson Inquiry into the press underway, Eve Pollard recalls what it was like being a tabloid editor in the 1980s and 90s at the Sunday Mirror and Sunday Express.
She recalls how people were paid for kiss and tell stories, how the police were treated to five star dinners, taxi rides and free football matches and how celebrities would be shocked if they knew who was really spilling the beans on their private lives.
