DCI Caroline Goode honoured for Mahmod murder hunt
The New Year Honours list features many familiar faces, but also unsung heroes who have made a telling contribution to their communities.
DCI Caroline Goode has been given the Queen's Police Medal for leading the investigation into the murder of 20-year-old Banaz Mahmod, the victim of a so-called honour killing.
Speaking to the BBC, DCI Goode said that bringing the killers to justice was a massive challenge, but one that was very rewarding for both herself and her team.
