Winds cause disruption around UK

Strong winds have been causing damage and disruption across the country, with overnight gusts of up to 112mph in the Pennines.

Thousands of homes and businesses are without power in England and Scotland.

BBC weather forecasters said strong winds would persist until early evening on Thursday, with 60 to 70mph winds on north-western coasts. Lorna Gordon reports.
