New guidance on how 'joint enterprise' should work

A group of MPs is warning the law surrounding gang murder cases in England and Wales is now so complex that juries may find it impossible to understand it.

Prosecutors will be given new guidance on joint enterprise cases, in which all members of a gang can be charged with murder, not just the person who actually carried out the killing.

Sir Alan Beith, chairman of the Justice Committee, told Radio 5 live what he is calling on the government to do to clarify the law.
