Lithuanian man in court charged with Kolar killing

A 37-year-old Lithuanian man Rimvydas Liorancas has been charged with the murders of a couple at their home at Handsworth Wood, in Birmingham.

The bodies of Avtar and Carole Kolar were discovered eight days ago by their son, who is a police officer.

West Midlands Police said they believed the motive for the double murder was nothing to do with their son's job, the force's work with gangs, or gold theft.

Det Chief Supt Steve Jupp, head of West Midlands CID and Martin Lindop from West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service spoke to reporters before the court appearance.
