Betty Yates murder: Police in anonymous letters appeal

Two anonymous letters have been sent to police investigating the murder of a former teacher in Worcestershire.

Betty Yates, 77, was found stabbed in her cottage by the River Severn in Bewdley, Worcestershire.

West Mercia Police said they were trying to trace the mystery authors of the letters.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson said: "We have received two anonymous letters which have opened up two new lines of inquiry."

He added: "I am very keen to speak to the authors of those letters to get as much information as I can about the content."
