Sacked teacher's relief at dropped misconduct charges

A secondary school teacher who was sacked after writing a racy novel based on some of her pupils has had gross misconduct charges against her dropped by the General Teaching Council.

Leonora Rustamova was dismissed by Calder High School in West Yorkshire in 2009 after her book was published online.

In 2011, she lost an employment tribunal she brought for unfair dismissal but won an appeal against that ruling hearing three months ago.

Ms Rustamova is waiting for her case to be re-heard in front of the same panel .

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire she was relieved by the GTC's decision.
