Hague: We worked together with the Italian government throughout this case

The Foreign Secretary, William Hague, and his Italian counterpart, have discussed the failed hostage rescue operation in Nigeria on Thursday.

Chris McManus from Britain and his Italian colleague, Franco Lamolinara, were killed before they could be freed.

Mr Hague said the opportunity to inform Rome about what was happening was limited because of the growing danger.
