Falklands War: HMS Hermes sails for South Atlantic

HMS Hermes sets sail for the South Atlantic with BBC reporter Brian Hanrahan on board.

Hermes had been due to be decommissioned that year, but when the Falklands War began she was made the flagship of the British task force.

She sailed for the Islands with 12 Sea Harrier jets and 18 Sea King helicopters, an air group which increased to 16 Sea Harriers, 10 GR3 RAF Harriers and 10 Sea Kings.
