Bartlam planned 'the perfect murder'

A boy from Nottingham who murdered his mother with a hammer when he was 14 has been detained by a court for 16 years.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that Daniel Bartlam had been inspired to carry out the murder by a plot in the television soap opera, Coronation Street.

Detective chief inspector Kate Meynell said Bartlam ''stopped at nothing'' to try and get himself off the charges he was facing.
