Manchester Airport security breach over ticketless boy

A major investigation is underway after an 11-year-old boy managed to board a flight for Rome from Manchester airport without a passport, ticket or boarding pass.

The focus will be on how the routine head count went wrong, according to the travel editor of The Independent newspaper.

Simon Calder said it was not a security breach, but if anyone needs to get involved it should be social services rather than Greater Manchester Police or MI5.
