PM on eve of Olympics opening: This is a 'momentous day'

David Cameron has promised that Britain will deliver a world-class Olympic Games.

On the eve of the official opening, the Prime Minister called it a momentous day and he insisted that the top priority was to keep people safe - in what will be the biggest security operation in peacetime history.

Meanwhile Olympic organisers have apologised to North Korea after a mix up, when the South Korean flag was wrongly shown on a big screen before the North Korean women's football match.

The BBC's Olympics correspondent, James Pearce reports.
