Police welcome jail sentence for man in 180mph chase

A man caught speeding at 180mph in a police chase on the M6 in the West Midlands has been jailed for nine years.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard how during the 65-mile chase in January Ben Westwood, 33, almost outpaced the police helicopter in a stolen car.

Speaking outside Wolverhampton Crown Court, Detective Superintendent Richard Baker said the judge had reflected the severity of Westwood's offending by imposing the nine year sentence.
