David Davis: 'We cannot tax our way to prosperity'
The senior Conservative backbencher, David Davis, is calling on the government to do more to promote economic growth.
But Mr Davis, who was runner-up to Mr Cameron for the party leadership in 2005, is pressing for a more radical tax cutting agenda to boost growth.
In a speech to the Centre for Policy Studies think-tank this lunchtime, Mr Davis said the health of the economy at the moment was "pretty dire" and action was needed.
