Rape victim says South Yorkshire Police failed to help her

A girl who was groomed when she was 12 and then repeatedly raped by a gang in Rotherham when she was 13 told Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire, that South Yorkshire Police failed to protect her.

'Amy', now 23, said she was not taken seriously and even treated like a "naughty girl wasting their time".

Speaking on the programme earlier, Detective Chief Superintendent Martyn Bates, the head of specialist crime services at South Yorkshire Police, denied claims that his force failed to act to bring perpretators of teenage sexual abuse to justice.

David Crompton, the Chief Constable of the force, will be questioned by MPs in October.
