Pensions reforms launched as auto-enrolment begins

From Monday, hundreds of thousands of people are being automatically signed up to pension schemes by their employers, in what is being described as the biggest shake-up of the system in decades.

The biggest firms, including supermarket chains, will lead the way.

At the moment, many workers are failing to get benefits because they have not enrolled, but over the next five years eleven million people will have to start making contributions out of their pay.

Simon Gompertz reports.
