BBC under scrutiny over Savile

BBC director general George Entwistle has faced questions from MPs about the corporation's handling of sexual abuse claims against Jimmy Savile.

His appearance before the Commons culture committee came a day after Newsnight's editor stepped aside, amid an inquiry into why the programme dropped an investigation into the presenter.

Meanwhile, two charities set up in Savile's name are to close.

BBC News Channel has live coverage of latest events as the story unfolds.
