Lord Patten: 'BBC could have handled Savile claims better'

The Chairman of the BBC Trust, Lord Patten, has said the BBC could have handled better the allegations of sexual abuse against Jimmy Savile.

He said the Corporation could have acted more quickly but said he hoped the damage to the BBC would not be long term.
