Care homes 'no quality guarantee without proper funding'

The head of an organisation representing care homes has given her reaction to the government's proposal for a new system of regulation in England

The Health Minister, Norman Lamb, has said the current system is "not fit for purpose" and there was a "significant lack of corporate accountability for the quality of care".

Nadra Ahmed, chairman of the National Care Association, which represents independent care home operators, told BBC News that it was not possible to guarantee quality of care until funding had been improved.
