Snow closes hundreds of schools

More than 3,000 schools have been closed in England and Wales as a band of heavy snow affects most of the UK.

Early snowfall has been disrupting travel and services with several roads closed by police who have warned of treacherous driving conditions.

The Met Office had warned a band of snow was likely to cause problems across the region.

Duncan Kennedy reports from Stroud, in Gloucestershire.
