Iraq 10 years on: Soldier battles back from injury to help others

Jon le Galloudec, known to his comrades as Frenchy, served in Basra as a Lance Corporal in the 4th Battalion the Rifles.

He was shot in the back and paralysed in an ambush by insurgents in Basra in 2006, and his best friend was killed coming to his rescue.

After years of operations, Jon has been able to walk again, though he is still in pain and requires more surgery.

Today, he has left the Army and is studying land management - but returns to Tedworth House, the rehabilitation centre run by the military charity Help for Heroes, to speak to other wounded servicemen.
