Danny Alexander: 'Changes clamp down on tax evasion'
The Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, has denied claims that income tax changes coming into effect today would leave millionaires much better off.
He said the "Tycoon Tax" would clamp down on tax reliefs claimed by the rich.
There has also been criticism of the so-called "granny tax" as the amount pensioners can earn without paying tax has been frozen instead of increasing with inflation.
But speaking on BBC Breakfast, the senior Liberal Democrat described the changes as "fair and reasonable".
