Olympic lottery loan 'has to be recouped'

Doubts have been raised about the repayment of lottery money used to help fund the 2012 Olympics.

A deal was struck under which the lottery paid in £2bn and would be repaid from future returns from developments at the Olympic Park in East London.

But the Commons Public Accounts Committee says the first payment will not be until the mid-2020s.

The committee's Labour chair, Margaret Hodge, also told Today presenter Sarah Montague that, with regards to the repayments, the committee "are worried about the speed and... worried about the total".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 19 April 2013.
