Recorded crime: David Cameron congratulates police

The prime minister has congratulated police for "working smarter" as recorded crime in England and Wales fell by 7% in the year ending 2013.

David Cameron said the police were doing "more with less" and exploiting technology better.

Mr Cameron also told the BBC's Mark Easton that local communities should also be praised for their work to increase crime prevention.
