What happens to war criminals in UK?
Britain has a long history of offering protection to people suffering persecution abroad. But what happens when those doing the persecuting come to live here?
Figures obtained by the Today programme show the Home Office identified nearly 100 suspected war criminals last year who had asked for British citizenship or the right to remain in the UK.
Many cases involved people likely to have already been living here for several years. Tom Bateman reports.
