Increase in families with just one child
The average number of children per household is falling as reports of growing costs are dissuading people from having larger families.
Just under half of all families with children in the UK have just one child, according to the Office of National Statistics.
But social policy think tank Civitas says scare stories about costs shouldn't detract from the benefits of children having siblings.
