Investigation into rogue PI clients

Nineteen companies are to be investigated for illegal activity, accused of commissioning private investigators to obtain people's confidential data.

Nineteen companies are facing possible prosecution for using rogue private investigators to obtain the personal details of 125 people.

The Information Commissioner's Office will investigate whether they have breached the Data Protection Act, but says it cannot name the companies involved.
