'Make not reporting child abuse a crime' - Keir Starmer
Failure by professionals to report allegations of child abuse should be made a criminal offence, the former director of public prosecutions says.
Keir Starmer called for "mandatory reporting" in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal. The US, Canada and Australia already have such legislation.
Declassified files uncovered by BBC Panorama found schools and hospitals have repeatedly failed to protect children from sex offenders.
