Typhoon Haiyan: UK consignment heading to the Philippines

The UK has pledged £10m and a Royal Navy warship to help the aid effort following Typhoon Haiyan.

It is feared the typhoon has killed up to 10,000 people and has displaced hundreds of thousands more.

An appeal has been launched by the Disasters Emergency Committee to help the Philippines recover.

Volunteers at the Red Cross centre near Bristol are preparing to send emergency supplies, as John Kay reports.
