Internet search abuse block 'not a silver bullet'

The introduction of further blocks on online images of child abuse is significant, but should not be mistaken for a silver bullet, an NSPCC spokeswoman has said.

NSPCC head of Child Safety Online Claire Lilley said she was "very encouraged by the focus and determination" of the search providers.

She added that the impact of knowing images existed online "can be very long-lasting.... not only the trauma of the abuse itself but also the humiliation and uncertainty."
