Co-op Bank scandal: Labour accuses Tories of 'gutter politics'

The Conservatives are exploiting the Co-op scandal in a way they would not once have done, shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper has said.

Ms Cooper said she did not think John Major or Margaret Thatcher would have exploited the controversy over Paul Flowers in the way she claims Conservative figures have done.

She told Andrew Marr that Labour's connection to the Co-op was a "completely different" issue from the question of Mr Flowers' chairmanship.
