Soccer match-fixing: Corruption in football results 'endemic'

Six men have been arrested in connection with allegations of match-fixing in English football, according to the National Crime Agency.

At least three footballers are reported to be among those being held, but they are not thought to be with professional clubs.

The arrests follow an investigation by journalists at the Daily Telegraph.

Chris Eaton, director of Sport Integrity with The International Centre for Sport Security, said corruption in football sports results was ''endemic''.

''We are talking about organised crime here...it is a government responsibility'', he added.
