Queen: 'Extraordinary' coincidence of Mandela film premiere

The Queen has said it is "extraordinary" that news of Nelson Mandela's death should have come through as a film about his life was having a royal gala screening.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were amongst the audience for the screening in Leicester Square last night, who were told after end of the film that South Africa's first black president had just died.

The Queen was on a visit to Westminster Hall to view a stained glass window installed to mark her Jubilee when she was shown a plaque dedicated to Nelson Mandela.
