Featherstone: Same-sex weddings 'absolute equality'

The government has announced that the first same-sex weddings will be allowed to take place in England and Wales from 29 March 2014.

Initially it was thought the first same-sex marriage in England and Wales would not take place until the summer.

Couples wishing to be among the first to marry will need to give formal notice of their intention to marry on 13 March.

Liberal Democrat MP Lynne Featherstone, a junior government minister and former equalities minister, says same-sex weddings are "hugely significant".
