'How I got out of gang culture and found a new path'

Former gang member Alex Augustine has been telling the BBC's Sima Kotecha how his participation in a music project with support group MAC-UK, helped him to forge a new path.

He said he joined a gang when he was just eight years old, to get money, and described how he had managed to turn his life around.

The government has hailed progress in tackling gang crime in English cities, citing a fall in wounding with knives and attempted murder since riots in England two years ago.
